Who we provide a service to

When the Trust was originally set up, in memory of Sara Lee, it’s role was to support people who had a terminal diagnosis.  Over the years, medicine and treatments have advanced, and people are living much longer with life limiting illnesses.

The Trust has responded, and has become more flexible in the people who can be referred for support. We provide a service to people living in the Hastings, Rother and Rye area. Our referrals come from health care professionals and people will be seen either at our therapy rooms in St.Leonards-on-Sea or Rye.

We understand that living with serious illness has a ripple effect on those around you and so partners, family members or carers are also able to access therapy and counselling.

We provide a service to people in Hastings, Rother and Rye with a diagnosis of cancer, motor neurone disease or HIV/AIDS

  • We provide complementary therapy to people who are in- patients at St Michaels Hospice which includes Hospice at Home patients or people who attend Day Therapy.
  • We provide a complementary therapy service to in-patients at the Rye, Winchelsea and District  Memorial Hospital.
  • We provide appointments to outpatients with a diagnosis of Cancer, HIV/AIDs and MND, who will be seen in our therapy rooms at the Sara Lee Centre in St.Leonards and Rye.
  • We have limited ability to see people in their own homes.  We are only able to offer appointments if people are physically unable to get to the Sara Lee Centre and are assessed as needing a home visit. We have a therapist working in the Hastings and Bexhill area and another therapist who works in the Rye area.
  • We are able to see young people under 16, but would need consent from their primary carer.
  • Family members and carers are also seen.
