National Association of Complementary Therapists in Hospice and Palliative Care (NACTHPC)?
Many complementary therapy services are formed as part of the local hospice but The Sara Lee Trust is unusual as we are a completely separate Charity to the local Hospice in St Leonards-on-Sea.
Very early on The Sara Lee Trust realised the importance of the work being undertaken by the team and the need to liaise and network with other complementary therapists. To this end, the Trust, in 1996/7, carried out a survey to find who else was providing complementary therapies. From this, a small group was set up to offer mutual support, the sharing of good practice and developing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) study days.
This quickly grew into a more structured organisation in the format of the National Association of Complementary Therapists in Hospice and Palliative Care (NACTHPC). Please see the 'related links' for more information
Deborah Kelly, The Sara Lee Trust Co-ordinator at the time was very involved in establishing this organisation and was one of the former committee members.
The Sara Lee Trust is still a member of this organisation which has continued to grow and has developed small regional groups; a national yearly conference and works closely with Help the Hospices. Please see the 'related links' for more information
