New Charity Shop

The Sara Lee Trust’s new Charity Shop at 35 Sedlescombe Road North in Silverhill was officially opened on Saturday (7 July) by the Mayor of Hastings, Councillor Nigel Sinden.

The Mayor spent time meeting customers, staff and volunteers and commented on the great work provided by the Trust, who support over 600 local people each year that are affected by cancer and other life threatening illnesses.

Emma Dell, Retail Manager for the Trust, said: “We had a fantastic time celebrating the opening of our new shop and I’d like to thank the Mayor for his attendance and support of the occasion. We rely on the income from our network of shops to fund our services and we hope the new shop continues to be as successful as the first day of opening. We are also still looking for volunteers to join our shop team. If you can spare three or more hours per week between the hours of 10am and 4pm to help in your local community - we would love to hear from you. Please pop into the shop or call 01424 319599.”

The Trust is also looking for pre-loved items to sell in their store, including furniture, bric a brac, china, glassware, kitchen items, pictures and electrical items. Donations can be taken to the shop, which is open Monday to Saturday, 10am until 4pm or the Trust provides a free collection service for furniture and other large items. To arrange a collection, please call 01424 272358 or email

Every aspect of the services and people I have dealt with have just been amazing. My only regret is that I didn't use Sara Lee trust at an early stage, as I feel it would of helped my mental state
