30 Years of The Sara Lee Trust

In April 2026, The Sara Lee Trust will proudly mark 30 years of supporting local people affected by life-threatening illness in Hastings and Rother.

​To celebrate this milestone, we’ll be hosting a range of special events throughout the year, including our amazing Sahara Trek, and we also invite you to help us by taking part in the 30 Challenge!

30 years in numbers

​​Since our beginning in 1996, The Sara Lee Trust is proud to say we have supported thousands of people in Hastings and Rother affected by life-threatening illness. 

1996 - Where it all began

This is the first ever photo taken of the Trust team at the opening of the very first Sara Lee therapy room at St Michael’s Hospice in St Leonards where Sara's father, Dr Jeremy Lee, was Medical Director. The same room is also used by the Trust today, providing end-of-life therapy to hospice patients.

The 30 Challenge

Get sponsored to walk 30 miles, give up alcohol for 30 days, or donate 30 items to our charity shops - whatever challenge you take on – you will be making a big difference.

Sahara Trek

11th - 19th November 2026
Celebrate our 30th Anniversary with us on an unforgettable journey across the Sahara Desert. 
Raising funds for the Trust, this trip includes 9 days in Morocco with 5 nights camping in the desert walking to reach Erg Zaher sand dune.

Donate £30

A £30 donation will cover one free therapy session for someone affected by a life-threatening illness - whether they are ill themselves or caring for a loved one.
