Backyard Family Festival raises over £2,000

The Sara Lee Trust’s Backyard Family Festival, held last weekend at The Custom Café, has raised over £2,000 for the charity.
Event organiser, Cathy Cobley said, “This was the Trust’s first fundraising event since the start of the pandemic, and the atmosphere was brilliant – it’s so lovely to see people coming together to support this fantastic charity by putting on such a great event.”

The Trust would like to thank the following local bands who generously gave their time: Andy & Ritchie, Pretty Kachina, Smokin' 80's, The Moonshine Band, Customized, Raydar, The Southern Comforts, The Reformed, The Great Fire and Graham’s Disco –every band put on an amazing performance.

Thanks also go to 247 Taxis for providing a free minibus at no cost to the charity; to Carrolls Greengrocers for providing £80 worth of fruit for the ‘Human Fruit Machine’; to Keith Walter and Little Common & Cooden Business Association for loaning the Trust the game; the event sponsors MC Glass; to the local farmers and businesses who offered additional parking spaces; to The Custom Café for the use of their venue and their kind support of The Trust; to the incredible volunteers; and to all the local people and businesses who sponsored the toy pig racing.

All proceeds from the event will go towards providing free complementary therapy care, counselling and group activities for local people in Hastings and Rother who are affected by cancer and other life threatening illnesses.
