Afternoon Tea For Sara Lee

Warm summer days are here at last, and we all love a treat on a sunny afternoon. Host your own Afternoon Tea, virtually or in your garden and help support local people this summer.

There are two ways to get involved:

1. Host a Virtual Afternoon Tea

Ask your friends, family and colleagues to pour themselves a cup of tea, grab a cake (or two!), join you online and donate what they would normally spend on a trip to their local café to The Sara Lee Trust instead.

Add some extra fun to your Afternoon Tea For Sara Lee:
  • Have a fancy dress competition over your web cams
  • Host a quiz
  • Stream a live bake-a-long

Here are some of the software apps you could use to join up with your friends and family:
Zoom - Currently one of the most popular apps around. Zoom makes it easy for anyone to join your party via a link that you can share with your friends and family before the day. Visit Zoom’s Help Centre For Further Details.

Skype - One of the most well-established apps in video calling. Skype is a solid choice that you can you can use across desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile. Visit the Skype Help Centre For Further Details.

Facebook Messenger - A group video chat on Facebook Messenger can handle up to 50 people and displays up to six at once. Visit Facebook Messenger’s Help Centre For Further Details.

Houseparty - As the name suggests, Houseparty is a bit of a party in itself. You can add to your own fun with a series of games within the app, like quizzes and drawing. Visit the Houseparty Help Centre For Further Details.

2. Host Afternoon Tea in your garden

Ask five of your friends, family or colleagues to join you in your garden for Afternoon Tea For Sara Lee. You provide the tea and cake while they bring their own cup, plate and cutlery and make a donation to The Sara Lee Trust.

The Government announced from the 15th June you are able to meet outdoors with groups of up to six people from different households, provided social distancing is observed and you stay 2 metres away from anyone outside your household or support bubble. Please see the Government’s Guidance about meeting people you do not live with.
